Rob and Liz’s story: low impact living

Rob and Liz met while working in financial services, but as their understanding of the climate challenge developed, they both changed their careers to focus on sustainable development.

Rob and Liz

They first joined Ecology when they took up a mortgage to purchase a property at Hockerton Housing, an earth-sheltered, ecological community in Nottinghamshire. The passive solar design of their home means that they don’t need central heating, while on-site wind turbines and solar photovoltaic panels generate energy for the community.

Rob and Liz’s positive experience of borrowing from Ecology influenced their decision to save with us, because they wanted to support others to live more sustainably.

By saving with Ecology Building Society, we’re helping to finance and support other people’s new environmental housing projects.
