Pastures new for Pat Pettit
Friday 29 August 2003
Not many people can say they've worked for a building society since its formation, but today Pat Pettit retires, having worked for Yorkshire based Ecology Building Society since it was formed in 1981.
Pat started out with The Ecology working from a small upstairs solicitors office in Cross Hills. As the Society grew it moved to its current base at 18 Station Road in the town. As she leaves, the Society has grown to nearly £50 million assets and is itself planning its relocation to new low impact headquarters across the Aire Valley in Silsden.
During her time with the Ecology, Pat has worked in both the Savings and Mortgage Departments, as well as acting as PA for the Chief Executive.
True to form, Pat is planning anything but a quiet retirement. Little time will be spent in her new home with her husband Alan and collie dog Lucy. Her active social life involves eating out and theatre going and she intends to organise fitness classes and do charity work. Pat said
"I am happy and proud to have worked for the Ecology. It is wonderful to have seen the Society grow, without losing any of its friendly approach or its principles."
The current Chief Executive Paul Ellis paid tribute to Pat:
"Pat has been a great servant of the Society, and provided staunch support and friendship to both myself and my predecessor Bob Lowman. I know Pat takes great pride in seeing how far the Society has advanced and the role she has personally played in our success. We wish her a busy and happy retirement."
