How To Apply

If you're interested in joining Ecology as a borrower, we'd love to hear from you.

Because we take an individual approach to every mortgage, we like to discuss your application with you over the phone to make sure it fits our criteria and to answer any questions you have.

You can contact us on 0845 674 5566, or you can email us via our enquiry form. When you get in touch with us, it's helpful if you can provide us with some basic information about your project:

  • what you want to do (especially the environmental aspects of your project)
  • how much you'll need to borrow
  • how you intend to finance it.

For residential mortgage enquries, once we've carried out a telephone interview with you and if we think we can help, we'll send you an application form and a personal mortgage illustration.

When you're ready to proceed, please complete and return the application form and a C-Change specification sheet, if you're applying for one of our mortgage discounts. We will ask for more detailed information and evidence to support your application - you can find out more about this in Your property, your project.

You will also need to send us your application and valuation fees.

When we've received your completed application form, we'll review the information you've given us and discuss any issues with you. Then we'll complete our identity check, take up all necessary references, confirm affordability and obtain a valuation report. If these are all satisfactory, we'll send you a written offer of loan.

If it's clear when we receive your application form that we can't proceed with the mortgage, we'll return your fees and any original documentation straight away.

You can find out more about the process by downloading The application process: a step-by-step guide.

For all commercial mortgage enquiries, including charities, housing associations and housing co-operatives, once we've carried out a telephone interview with you and if we think we can help, we will provide a list of the information we need together with an application form.

Once we have received the information we need to progress your application, we will arrange a site visit and a face to face meeting with you to discuss your proposals in detail.
