Ethical finance hits the headlines

It’s been hard to ignore the headlines about the conduct of mainstream banks recently, alongside increasing media interest in the more ethical options available to savers.

We’ve argued for a long time that ethics need to be at the fore in financial services – from the purpose of the organisation to the way we treat our members and where we put their money. Ecology’s Chief Executive, Paul Ellis, recently released a comment in response to current events, saying “we want to see the day when ethical financial institutions are the norm, not the exception – when it becomes bizarre to put your money with a bank that doesn’t behave decently towards its customers or the wider community”.

We’re sharing our response to the ongoing debate via our social media channels – on Twitter and Facebook – and we’d love to hear your thoughts on Paul’s arguments. If you’re already an Ecology member, you can rest assured that will always put your needs and our environmental mission first. And if you’re not an Ecology member, you can find out more about the Ecology difference here.
