Ecology Building Society has announced that Chair Louise Pryor will retire in 2027, stepping down from the Board at the Society’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) next year.
By the time she retires, Louise will have served on Ecology’s Board for seven years, including five years as Chair.
Louise joined the Board in 2020 and was elected Chair in 2022. During her time at Ecology, she has helped guide the Society through a period of growth and development, strengthening the foundations that support our purpose of creating positive environmental and social impact through the way we lend and save.
Chief Executive Officer Gareth Griffiths paid tribute to Louise’s contribution to the Society.
“I’ve been privileged to work with Louise since joining Ecology and am grateful for the leadership, expertise and commitment she has provided to the Board and the Society.
“Louise has been instrumental in laying the foundations for our future growth, so that we can take Ecology to more people and collectively harness our power to deliver more meaningful impact that enables a brighter tomorrow for everyone.”
Reflecting on her time as Chair, Louise highlighted the important role Members play in supporting positive change.
“The need for action on climate change has never been greater, but neither can we ignore the social and economic pressures shaping people’s lives.
“I’m delighted to have been part of a movement that is championing the infrastructure changes that allow more people to be part of the transition and is providing access to products and services that enable sustainable living and support thriving communities.
“Ecology Members are making a clear statement about the type of business they choose to associate with. The Society has created a platform to grow its membership further, so that these collective voices can demand a path for change that others must follow.”
Gareth added:
“We are enormously grateful to Louise for everything she has contributed to Ecology. Her leadership, knowledge and commitment have helped shape the Society’s direction and position us for the future.
“We will formally recognise Louise’s service at next year’s AGM and wish her every happiness in her retirement.”
The process of appointing a new Chair will begin shortly to ensure a carefully managed transition. Further updates will be shared in due course.
