Ecology Supports Walkers On The No Fracking Way

We recently supported a group of environmental activists who were walking 120 miles over five days between the Yorkshire fracking site at Kirby Misperton and the Lancashire fracking site at Preston New Road near Blackpool. The No Fracking Way protest was organised by The Green Party.

The walkers started on Wednesday 8 March and finished on Sunday 12 March, passing through Silsden on the way, where they called into Ecology’s offices for much needed tea and cakes and a short rest.

The walkers aimed to raise awareness of the dangers of fracking to local communities as well as highlighting alternatives such as energy efficiency programmes for homes and renewable energy.

We share the activists concerns about the ecological impact of fracking. It isn’t low carbon and won’t help the UK achieve our climate change targets, so we were pleased to be able to help the walkers on their way.
