Important changes to Earthwise and Foundations ISAs

18 February 2021

Our Earthwise and Foundations cash ISAs will not be available for subscriptions in the 2021/2022 tax year. This means that all payments into your ISA must be received at Ecology by 1 April 2021.

If you hold one of these ISAs your account will otherwise continue to operate as usual. You can withdraw money as you do now, with no notice period, and interest will be credited in line with the terms and conditions of your account. You may also close the account or request a transfer to an alternative ISA provider.

Setting up a new ISA for the 2021/2022 tax year
If you wish to pay into an ISA with Ecology for the 2021/2022 tax year you will be able to apply for an Ecology cash ISA from 6 April 2021. To find out more about this account and how to apply click here.

If you currently pay into your ISA via Direct Debit
If you currently pay into your Earthwise or Foundations cash ISA via Direct Debit, please note that the final payment of your 2020/2021 ISA subscription will be collected in March. After this we will cancel your Direct Debit and no further payments will be collected.

If you currently pay into your ISA via standing order
You should cancel any standing order payment into your ISA that is due to be transferred after March 2021. If standing order payments to your ISA are received after this date, Ecology will return the amount to the account from which it was sent.

Making a one-off payment into your account before the end of the 2020/2021 tax year
If you wish to make a payment into your ISA it must be received by us no later than 1 April 2021. If we receive a payment into your ISA after this date, the amount will be returned to the account from which it was sent and any cheques will be destroyed.

If you are unsure how to make a payment, click here and head to ‘How can I pay money in?’.

Why are we making this change?
This action has become necessary due to the continuing impact of the all-time low interest rates and the reduction in savings interest rates generally. You may wish to compare alternative savings accounts from Ecology or other providers to make sure your account is the best option for you. If you choose to move your account to another provider, we will assist with this.

The money you save with Ecology funds low-carbon homes, affordable housing and healthy communities, bringing the vision of a fairer, more sustainable future closer to becoming a reality as we continue to build a greener society. Read more about the projects your money supports here.

We’ve written to holders of Earthwise and Foundations ISAs with details of this change. Should you have any questions about, please contact the Savings Team on [email protected] or 01535 650 770 and we will be happy to help.
