I wanted to thank you for your support for the Society in 2025 and reflect on what we’ve achieved over the past 12 months.

I know that everyone has a choice as to where they place their money and mortgage. By choosing Ecology, you’re showing the world that these choices really matter.

Whether you’re a saver or a borrower, you’re helping to create eco-friendly homes and deliver purpose-driven projects. You are lending your voice to our continued campaigns for a fair society in a sustainable world: from supporting the movement to protect Cash ISAs, to raising awareness of schemes that help people get onto the property ladder in the places they call home.

What we do, together, doesn’t go unnoticed. This year, Ethical Consumer magazine – the UK’s leading guide to ethical and sustainable living – named Ecology Building Society as its Best Buy for mortgage and savings accounts, with a 100% ‘Ethiscore’.

The magazine also acknowledged our provision of mortgages to specialist groups. We’ve been able to do more of this in 2025 too. Our new Affordable Local Homes mortgage is helping people purchase reduced priced homes that allow them to stay in their local community. Our new Community Living mortgage is supporting people who are looking to live sustainably as part of a cohousing setup.

I know that this positive impact is a key reason for you choosing to be with Ecology. I also know that the service we give to you is important as well. During 2025, we’ve been working hard on developing a new online service and the Ecology App. These will launch during the first part of 2026 and improve the way you’re able to manage your accounts with us and the speed we can move your money for you.

Importantly, these improvements will also mean we can encourage more people to support our cause. Which means we can further increase our positive impact next year and beyond.

Rest assured, as we grow, we’ll do so responsibly – because it matters. To me, to you. And to the outside world we’re working hard to influence.
