Natural Environment Champion 2025

We’re proud to announce that Ecology Building Society has won the Natural Environment Champion 2025 award at the Investors in the Environment (iiE) Awards. This recognition celebrates organisations that go above and beyond to protect and enhance the natural environment supporting biodiversity and conservation.

We were also shortlisted for Overall Outstanding Achiever 2025, reflecting our commitment to resource efficiency and engaging colleagues in impactful projects.

About iiE

Investors in the Environment is a national accreditation scheme helping organisations reduce environmental impact and gain recognition for their progress. Ecology has been an iiE member for nine years and holds the highest Green level accreditation.

Our impact

From our green roof and permaculture gardens to rainwater harvesting, woodland habitats and staff-led biodiversity projects, we’re creating spaces that benefit nature and people. Recent initiatives include:

Weekly Gardening Club and getting involved in projects like the Big Butterfly Count.
On-site hot composting to cut waste and return nutrients to the soil.
Partnerships with Trees for Cities, Yorkshire Wildlife Trust and Climate Action Silsden.
