We’re Joining The #ClimateStrike
This Friday, 20 September, members of the Ecology team will be taking to the streets alongside people from across the globe to call for urgent action in the face of the climate crisis.
Millions will be leaving their workplaces and schools to join the youth-led Global Climate Strike, with marches planned in cities and communities around the world. The strikes represent a unified voice calling for rapid system change to halt further acceleration of climate change and environmental degradation.
The strike will take place three days before the UN’s Climate Action Summit, which aims to boost ambition and accelerate actions to implement the Paris Agreement on Climate Change. It follows on from a UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change report published earlier this year, which detailed the extent of damage that human activity is having upon the world’s soil, water, air and vegetation, reminding us that, “neither our individual or societal identities, nor the world’s economy would exist without the multiple resources, services and livelihood systems provided by land ecosystems and biodiversity.”
Ecology believes that the financial system must step up to meet its responsibilities as an enabler of positive change and that collective action is a powerful force in achieving this. That’s why we’re encouraging our people and community to follow the inspiring example being set by the younger generation and add their voice to the call for climate justice this Friday.
Paul Ellis, Chief Executive, Ecology explained,
“Young people have been leading the collective call for urgent action to tackle the climate and ecological crisis. Given our commitment to finance that serves people and planet, we’re pleased to join and support their efforts to build a sustainable future.”
