How quickly do I need to tell the Society that someone has died?

We understand that there is a lot to do and you may not feel like tackling everything straight away, but the sooner you let us know the better. We will then freeze the account, meaning it will still earn interest but payments in or withdrawals out cannot be made. We will then wait for you to get the formal documentation to us once you are ready.

Your eligible deposits with Ecology Building Society are protected up to a total of £85,000 by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme, the UK's deposit guarantee scheme. Any deposits you hold above the limit are unlikely to be covered.
