Ecology Members’ Votes Raise Money For Charity

Ecology has donated £750 to international development charity, Practical Action as a result of members’ voting in our 2016 AGM and choosing to receive future voting packs by email.

Ecology Building Society’s AGM and Members’ Meet-up took place on Saturday 30th April 2016 at our offices in Silsden, West Yorkshire. As a mutual, owned by and operated for our members, our members can take part in and vote at the Society’s AGM each year. Voting offers members a chance to participate in making key decisions for the future of the Society.

This year 1235 members voted representing nearly 16% of eligible members and 39% used our online voting service.

The Society made a charitable donation of 50p for every member who voted online, 20p for each returned qualifying proxy form and £1 for each member who opted to receive future AGM packs by email, which helps us reduce our paper use. As a result the Society has donated £750 to international development charity, Practical Action.

Pam Waring, Secretary, Ecology Building Society said,

“We would like to thank all our members who took the time to vote and opt to receive future AGM packs by email. Again, this year, we are proud to support Practical Action and make a donation on behalf our members.”

Paul Smith Lomas, CEO, Practical Action, said,

“We’d like to say a big thank you to Ecology Building Society and their members for continuing to support our work. With their help, we’re able to continue using technology to challenge poverty across the world.”
